Present (on the phone): M. Mennes, T. Septembre, N. Powell, M. Gallo, S. Maroon, P. Rajo, J. LaPonzina,
R. Strickland and A. Pozzi
Invited guest – Bill Griffith
Meeting held via phone conference
A. Pozzi – introduced Mr. LaPonzina
J. LaPonzina – Explained the reasons that led to PCM’s decision not to exercise its five-year option of its
lease with the Village of Miami Shores
• After 30 years operating the Club and as much as this course means to me, as I learned to play golf
here it was a difficult decision to make
• The pandemic along with its impact on business and the uncertainty that it has created have made
the current lease agreement not viable
• We provided the Village of Miami Shores as much notice as possible to allow them the opportunity
to seek other bidders to operate the property. We also indicated that depending on the terms of the
bid document, PCM would most probably submit a bid
• Over the life of the current lease, PCM has paid over 5 million in rent and invested over 4 million in
capital. While the Village has not had to spend a single dollar on the property in that period
• Before PCM took over operations of the Club, MSV was losing around a half of a million a year
operating the facility
• In spite of the capital improvements, PCM has made over the years the Club is in need of a
significant capital improvement (in the order of 6 to 10 million) to ensure its long-term viability
• While the course was closed the Village and PCM split the golf course maintenance expenses 50/50
New Business:
A. Pozzi -
• We received nearly 18 inches of rain from Saturday to Monday. Golf Course will be closed
tomorrow as it is still flooded
• The Pro shop, men’s locker room and basement were also flooded
• Given how high the water table and canal are the golf course is draining very slowly
T. Septembre – Should report this to the Village council
M. Mennes – How is the back nine?
A. Pozzi –
• Hole #11 still had a lake in the middle of the fairway
• Hole #17, the cart path is still unpassable
• Hole #18 has standing water on the fairway
• We went from severe drought to flooding in 2 weeks
T. Septembre – How are you advertising your takeout service?
A. Pozzi – We have been sending email blasts to the 15000 addresses that we have in our database. We also
posted the specials on our Facebook page and our Instagram feed
M. Mennes – Have not received any email about the restaurant specials
A. Pozzi – Will check into that
B. Griffith – thank you for letting me participate in the meeting
P. Rajo – When will the restaurant open?
A. Pozzi -
• We are reviewing the reopening rules issued by Miami Dade County and reformulating operating
procedures and retraining staff to ensure we are compliant and can provide our guests and staff with
a safe environment as well as enjoyable experience
• The bar cannot open as of yet
• Tables must be 6 feet apart and we are only able to seat 4 people at a table and 6 if all people are
from the same household
• Manager on duty takes the temperature of every employee before the shift starts
The next meeting is scheduled for June 24, 2020 ?
