AVDS8660, • 03/17 InnovairFlex D4120 Conventional Duct Smoke Detector General The Notifier InnovairFlex D4120 and D412OW multi -voltage 4-wire photoelectric duct smoke detectors features a pivoting housing that fits various applications: both square and rectangular footprints and mounts to round or rectangular duct work. The multi -voltage 4-wire design allows the D4120 and D412OW duct detectors to be used as a 4-wire device on a conventional fire detection system or as a stand-alone part of a HVAC system. These units sense smoke in the most challenging conditions, operating in airflow speeds of 0.5 to 20.32 metres per second, temperatures of-20°C to 70°C, and a humidity range of 0 to 95 percent (non -condensing). A plug-in sensor head offers improved false alarm immunity and simple installation, testing, and maintenance. An improved cover design isolates the sensor head from the low -flow feature for simple maintenance. The InnovairFlex housing provides ample wiring space, a 20mm conduit knockout, and built-in short circuit protection to prevent damage to sensitive components during installation. High contrast terminal designations make wiring easy. As many as 50 InnovairFlex detectors can be interconnected. When one unit senses smoke, all interconnected detectors will switch their relays; only the detector sensing smoke will go into alarm, thus pinpointing the fire source. An easy -access Test/Reset button makes it possible to test the unit with the cover on. Three DIP switches can be used to configure field selectable settings: cover tamper delay, number of sensors to be controlled, and shut down on trouble option. Each power board has two LEDs that can be used to indicate the status of connected sensors, and a quick reference imprinted on the cover explains the LED status indications (Standby, Maintenance, Trouble, and Alarm). These detectors are available in either 135°F (57.2°C) or 194°F (90°C) ratings. The 302 Series are normally -open devices designed es- pecially for fire detection and alarm systems. FEATURES • Immediate response. The 302 Series activate when- ever ambient air temperature reaches a detector's set- ting, eliminating the thermal time lag inherent in conven- tional heat detectors. • Eliminates false alarms. The 302 Series do not respond to momentary temperature fluctua- tions below the selected temperature. • Universal application. The 302 Series can be used in all areas for any type of occupancy. • Self -restoring. • Hermetically sealed, shock resistant, corrosion resistant, and tamper -proof. PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION The 302 Series rate -anticipation heat detectors respond and activate the fire alarm immediately whenever the ambient temperature reaches the preset temperature setting. Under rapid heat rise conditions, the rate -anticipation feature enables the detector to respond one to three degrees ahead of the setting. At the same time, however, it does not respond to momentary temperature fluctuations below the selected protection level, thus eliminating false alarms. When temperature drops back down below the protection level, the detector automatically resets itself. DIMENSIONS (Model 302) Total overall length: 4-1/8" (10.48 cm). Base diameter: 2" (5.08 cm). The base accommodates a broad range of back box and directs m*ni ing options and provides ample space for pre -wiring the device. To complete the installation, the i3 detector plugs into its base with a simple Stop-Drop'N Lock action. Intelligence. To reduce the likelihood of nuisance alarms, all i3 detectors are equipped with both drift compensation and smoothing algorithms. These capabilities minimize both short- and long-term causes of nuisance alarms, such as RF interference and dust accumulation. When connected to the 2W-M0D2 loop test/ maintenance module or an i3 Ready' panel, 2-wire i3 detectors can generate a remote maintenance signal when in a maintenance or freeze trouble condition. To measure the sensitivity of any i3 detector, the SENS-RDR displays the reading, in terms of percent -per -foot obscuration, within seconds. Instant inspection. i3 has red and green LEDs to simplify local status indication during power -up, standby, alarm, maintenance, and freeze trouble conditions. When in alarm, i3 sounder models generate an 85 dB temporal tone. If connected to the RRS-MOD reversing relay/synchronization module, all i3 sounders on the loop will activate when one detector is in alarm. The RRS-MOD also synchronizes i3 sounder output to ensure a clear audible signal. Should the application call for differentiating between a local and a general alarm, the i3 line offers an isolated thermal model, which initiates a local alarm when smoke is detected, and a general alarm when the thermal sensor is activated.
