Please accept this correspondence as a formal request for Temporary Certificate of Occupancy of the above
referenced job previously inspected and approved for TCO by Miami Shores Village Building Department, on
This request is for commencement of regular business at Barry University Weber Hall. The TCO is being
requested due to the further investigation needed to obtain the municipal water supply results, in order to
determine whether the water pressure is insufficient for the design of a fire sprinkler system without
installation of a fire pump, which would constitute an exemption to the fire sprinkler requirements set forth in
Florida Building Code.
We are requesting 90 days for the TCO, and within this time, every attempt will be made to obtain the Final
CO. If the Final CO is not obtained, a Request for TCO Extension will be obtained.
During this time, all means of egress shall be kept clear and accessible and all life safety systems will be
maintained and kept operable at all times while the building is being occupied. Moss & Associates, LLC hereby
will hold harmless and release Miami Shores Village Building Department and Miami Dade Fire Department
from any liability that may arise during the use of designated areas in the afore mentioned facility while under
the limitation of the Temporary Certificate of Occupancy.

Please accept this correspondence as a formal request for Temporary Certificate of Occupancy of the above
referenced job previously inspected and approved for TCO by Miami Shores Village Building Department, on
This request is for commencement of regular business at Barry University Weber Hall. The TCO is being
requested due to the further investigation needed to obtain the municipal water supply results, in order to
determine whether the water pressure is insufficient for the design of a fire sprinkler system without
installation of a fire pump, which would constitute an exemption to the fire sprinkler requirements set forth in
Florida Building Code.
We are requesting 90 days for the TCO, and within this time, every attempt will be made to obtain the Final
CO. If the Final CO is not obtained, a Request for TCO Extension will beobtained.
During this time, all means of egress shall be kept clear and accessible and all life safety systems will be
maintained and kept operable at all times while the building is being occupied. Moss & Associates, LLC hereby
will hold harmless and release Miami Shores Village Building Department and Miami Dade Fire Department
from any liability that may arise during the use of designated areas in the afore mentioned facility while under
the limitation of the Temporary Certificate of Occupancy.

This letter pertains to the inspector's request for confirmation of compliance with 2017 FBC Building -
907.4, 907.5, and 907.6.
JLRD has reviewed the referenced code sections listed above for this project's Group type, R-2.
Specifically, section 907.2.9 Group R-2, is the relevant code section for this project and lists the specific
requirements contained within the general requirements of 907.4 through 907.6. Based on these
requirements and the project's specific scope for the existing fire alarm system, the design intent of
construction documents for an automatic smoke detection design and occupant notification is, to the best
of our knowledge, incompliance with the applicable codes for this group type.
This position is further supported by the building plan approvals provided by both Miami Shores Village
and Miami -Dade.
