Dear Sir/Madam, Mr. Anas Bataineh, P.E., a principal engineer, conducted a visual inspection of the above referenced address on August 20, 2019. The purpose of the site visit was to assess the feasibility of replacing the existing roofing shingles with roofing tiles. According to information provided by the Miami -Dade County Property Appraiser's website, the two- story structure was built in 1932. The main roof is hip in configuration and covered with composite roofing shingles. The roof structure consists of 2x6 wood rafters spaced at 24 inches on center with a roof span of 29'-2". The front wall of the structure is facing north. To the best of my knowledge and professional experience, it's my opinion that the roofing system shall remain as composite roofing shingles in order to avoid overstressing the roof structure or cause permanent deflection in the roof surface. Roofing tiles are substantially heavier than composite roofing shingles (at least two times), and the additional load of the roofing tiles on the roof structure may cause permanent deflection and possibly overstressing of the roof structure and connections.
