A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF MIAMI
SHORES VILLAGE, FLORIDA, DESIGNATING 1115 NE 97TH
STREET AS A VILLAGE HISTORIC LANDMARK; PROVIDING
FOR INSTRUCTIONS UPON APPROVAL; AND PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
8 WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 11-4 (c)(1) of the Miami Shores Village (the
9 "Village") Code of Ordinances, the Historic Preservation Board has the power to
10 recommend to the Village Council the designation of a structure or site as an historic
11 landmark; and
12 WHEREAS, during a public hearing on November 16, 2022, the Historic
13 Preservation Board recommended by an unanimous vote to recommend designating the
14 single family home, located at 1115 NE 97th Street (the "Property"), as a Village historic
15 landmark, due to its historical and architectural significance and influence on the Village
16 based on its mid-century design by renowned architect Alfred Browning Parker; and
17 WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Board held a public hearing on March 23,
18 2023, and also recommended, by an unanimous vote, to designate the Property as an
19 historic landmark; and
20 WHEREAS, the owner of the Property is in agreement with the proposed
21 designation; and
22 WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 11-5 (c) of the Village Code, the Village Council
23 has reviewed the recommendations of the Historic Preservation and Planning and Zoning
24 Boards and finds that the Property designation as a historic landmark is in the best interest
25 and welfare of the residents of the Village.
26 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF MIAMI
27 SHORES VILLAGE, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:

1 Section 1. Recitals Adopted. That each of the above stated recitals is hereby
2 confirmed, adopted, and incorporated herein and made a part hereof by reference.
3 Section 2. Historic Landmark Designated. Pursuant to Chapter 11, "Historic
4 Preservation," of the Village Code of Ordinances, the Property located at 1115 NE 97th
s Street in the Village is hereby designated as a historic landmark.
6 Section 3. Action following council approval. Pursuant to Section 11-5(d),
7 upon approval of the Property as a historic landmark by the Village Council, a covenant
8 to run with the land will be duly recorded by the Village Clerk in the public records of Miami
9 Dade County. The Village Council shall issue a certificate of recognition to the property
10 owners describing the historic landmark and describing its significance.
11 Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
12 the adoption hereof.

14 APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the Miami Shores Village Council at the regular
15 meeting assembled this 20th day of June, 2023.
