Village of Miami Shores,
The intent of these documents that have been put together is to further explain the current
situation that supports the permit application under process number DOMO-06-22-1646. The
requirements for a swimming pool barrier are found under section R4501.17 of the 2020
Florida Building Code, Residential.
The current situation of the pool enclosure screen is critical and a hazard. It is extremely
destroyed in all aspects. We are attaching some images showing the current condition. The
doors currently do not close automatically and have holes. There are large sized holes on the
upper and bottom sides. This screen enclosure doesn't fully serve as a barrier at this time since
it is extremely damaged, and the doors are inoperable. I purchased the house a few months
ago, and the screen was already damaged, but became more damaged when FPL was trimming
the trees and branches fell and further damaged it.
The house is currently fully enclosed with a wood fence, all around the property. Additionally,
we have submitted the permitting request for the new PVC fence with self -closure hinges all
around the property, which is considered a pool barrier as per the requirement, which doors
contain the self -closure hinges. Again, there is already a wood fence all around the house,
wood on wood. The permit number for your reference for the new fence is FW-07-22-1705.
In compliance with the code, we are also adding a pool door alarm to the only door form the
hous that accesses the enclosed area, which holds the pool. We are also attaching the specs of
including the self -closing hinges and the self -latching door closure.
