2022-04-04 RAC Minutes Minutes of the Recreation Advisory Committee held on April 4, 2022. Members present: Jennifer Baumann Sandra Carro Silvia Clarke Christian Dunham John Ise Gayle Mercado Sheryl Piper Jens Schwarte Natasha White Also present: Angela Dorney, Recreation Director Jacquelyn Villagran, Recreation Superintendent Leslie Rackl, Executive Assistant Members of Boy Scout Troop 1305 Karon Koleman, Resident Deidra Funcheon, Resident LIllybeth Guilfucci Luciana Fischer The meeting was called to order at 7:04 p.m. Mr. Ise welcomed Boy Scout Troop 1305 to the meeting. Mr. Ise said that the Scouts are working towards their merit badges in public speaking and citizenship in community unity and are here to observe the meeting. Ms. Baumann made a motion to approve the minutes of the March 7, 2022 meeting. Motion seconded by Ms. Mercado and unanimously approved. At this time an update of the capital projects was discussed. The exterior doors at the Community Center have been replaced; new benches have been installed (four on the basketball courts, seven on the athletic fields and one at Optimist Park). Exterior painting and flooring at the Community Center are to be scheduled. It was also related that the Pool’s thermal blankets have arrived, which had been on backorder. Umbrella tops at the pool are still on backorder. It was noted that the Recreation’s summer brochure is currently available and registration begins the end of April. Lifeguard certification classes have begun. Wild Waters is now open weekends until summer begins. Upcoming events include the Egg Dive and Marshmallow Drop. Ms. Dorney related that mid-April the ULI will have 50% of their presentation ready for the Village Manager. The ULI will create a plan and make recommendations based on current usage. Ms. Baumann said that some renovations are needed for safety and some are aesthetically needed. Ms. Clarke added that communication to the entire community is essential for success. At this time the Boy Scouts and their parents made suggestio ns for new classes and programs. Suggestions include a standup comedy class as well as activities geared to teens. It was related that the flag retirement boxes are near completion. The meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
