The 3G3070CF uses the HSPA network to ensure low-cost, high-speed and reliable alarm communications and is compatible with control panels that communicate using the Contact ID format. The 3G3070CF is compliant with the latest requirements for Communications Methods as per UL864 and NFPA72 2010 and 2013 Editions. It can be used in Fire Monitoring applications as a single communications technology, in which case any failure of the communications path shall be annunciated at the supervising station within 5 minutes (NFPA72 2010) or 1 hour (NFPA72 2013) of the failure, or it can be used as part of a multiple communications technologies (for example in conjunction with a DACT). When used as a back-up provision shall be made to monitor the integrity of each communication path and failure of any communications path shall be annunciated at the supervising station and at the protected premises within not more than 24 hours of the failure. How it Works The 3G3070CF can be used as either a Sole Communicator or as a Backup Communicator. When being used as a Sole Communicator the 3G3070CF will replace the phone line connection on the panel and as soon as it detects that an alarm needs to be transmitted it will send the alarm across the HSPA network immediately. When being used as a backup the communicator assesses the connection to the PSTN phone line, and only in the event of a phone line failure will it send all alarm traffic across the HSPA network to the monitoring station. In instances where the control panel does not support Contact ID, the 3G3070CF has inputs pre-set to transmit fire alarm, fire Specifications supervisory or system trouble. The external ambient air temperature of the 4098-9845 Weatherproof Enclosure was varied throughout its UL listed operating temperature range. Temperatures were recorded - within the protected duct sensor housing with varying duct air velocities of air maintained between 68' and 74' F (20' to 23° C). This graph illustrates how an increase in the test airflow velocity allows the airflow through the weatherproof enclosure to maintain the duct sensor housing at its rated range as the ambient temperature of the weatherproof enclosure is varied throughout temperatures anticipated for exterior air duct locations. PLEASE NOTE that for typical external air duct applications, heating air would be hotter than 740 F and cooling air would be lower than 68' F, extending the acceptable airflow range accordingly. • '....'O L ...... ---- — _ a- CL • . .. •0 .. .. ...... 0:0900 r60° C1 • 4 "• •:a 122° E ( 50° C) Recommended airflow range with duct air temperature between 680 to 740 F (200 to 230 C) 32* C ( 0° C) W d L 00 O (-18°C) v c W o -20° o (-290 C) CL 1 -40° (-40° C) 300 450 600 750 900 1050- 1200 (91) (137) (183) (229) (274) (320) (366) Recommended Duct Air Velocity, Linear ft/min (m/min) TYCO, SIMPLEX, and the product names listed in this material are marks and/or registered marks. Simplex compact air duct smoke sensor housings provide TrueAlarm operation for the detection of smoke in air conditioning or ventilating ducts. Sampling tubes are installed into the duct allowing air to be directed to the smoke sensor mounted in the housing. III CU IWWI F I I I I R111MOVINTMET• Digital Communication of Analog Sensing. Analog information from the sensor is digitally communicated to the control panel where it is analyzed. Sensor input is stored and tracked as an average value with an alarm or abnormal condition being determined by comparing the sensor's present value against its average. Intelligent Data Evaluation. Monitoring each photoelectric sensor's average value provides a software filtering process that compensates for environmental factors (dust, dirt, etc.) and component aging, providing an accurate reference for evaluating new activity. The result is a significant reduction in the probability of false or nuisance alarms caused by shifts in sensitivity, either up or down. [areas se note that smoke detection in air ducts is intended to provide ication of the presence of smoke in the duct. It is not intended nd will not, replace smoke detection requirements for open or other non -duct applications. S4098-0030-10 11/2014 • ••- • -• Control Panel Selection. Peak activity per sensor is stored to assist in evaluating specific locations. The alarm set point for each sensor is determined at the control panel, selectable as the individual application requires. Sensor Status LED. Each sensor housing's red status LED (located on the electrical interface board) pulses to indicate communications with the panel. If the control panel determines that a sensor is in alarm, or that it is dirty or has some other type of trouble, the details are annunciated at the control panel and that sensor housing's status LED will be turned on steadily. During a system alarm, the control panel will control the LEDs such that an LED indicating a trouble will return to pulsing to help identify any alarmed sensors. (Remote Status/Alarm LEDs track the operation of the sensor housing LED.) .. .•TrueAlarmpVtoelectricTeillSQV use a stable, pulsed • • •infrared LED•light source•a.silicon photodi ode • •receiver to provide consisje" and accurate low power • smo•ke sensing! • • • • Typically duct sensor applications require less sensitive settings (such as 2.5% per foot obscuration) due to the ducts being a relative dirty environment. Duct air velocity rating is 300 to 4000 ft/min (91 to 1220 m/min). Pressure differential between intake and exhaust tubes is required to be between 0.015 to 1.55 inches of water (0.381 to 39.37 mm). 3. Ensure accessibility for test and service. 4. Proper Locations: downstream side of filters to detect fires in the filters; in return ducts, ahead of mixing areas; upstream of air humidifier and cooling coil. 5. Other locations and orientations may be required for proper duct smoke detection depending on duct access, system design, and duct airflow testing.
