Actual size: 68-1/2"h x 42-1/2"w
• Power drill
• 1/4" drill bit
• 7/16" wrench
• Shims
NOTE: PicketLock'" is a patent -pending technology that provides
a glue- and fastener -free connection between the pickets and
rails. You may spray soapy water onto components to help them
slide more easily into their corresponding channels. A non -marring
rubber mallet may also be used to gently tap components more
firmly into place.
PLANNING: Prior to construction, check with your local regulatory
agency for special code requirements in your area. Contact your
utility supplier to locate and mark underground lines.
Careful planning and measuring of your fence project is essential,
as moving posts after the concrete sets is extremely difficult.
Find a clean surface for gate panel assembly. Beginning with the
starter picket, lay all pickets in the same direction and connect them
so the tongue side fits into the groove side (fig. 1).
Place the groove of the top rail down firmly over the top of the pickets
and position rail so that it's flush on both ends (fig. 2).
Lay two of the horizontal rails across the pickets. 8d ftfp notched rails
line up with the grooves on the pi:ketgJfW. 3). • • • • • • • • • •

Place gate jambs on both sides c: th2re:ls andplace the hingelr:the
center of the fence rail. Using the bract et as a guide, drill the three t3
necessary 4/4" holes for the bracket t sltsv Repeat these steps4r tie
hinged brackets as well (fig. 4). Ensure the railsere fully inserted in the
jamb before drilling. The bolts need to go througA the jamb and rail to
function properly.
Slide the hinged bracket and bracket on the top and bottom of the gate
jambs. Attach hinges to jambs with the supplied through bolts. Connect
bolts with the supplied cap nuts. Ensure the gate is square before all
bolts are tight. When square, tighten all bolts with a 7/16" wrench.

Dig post hole for the hinge post 18" to 24" in diameter and 36" to 42"
deep (depending on local ordinance or expected frost depth in winter).
We recommend that you insert a piece of 4x4 treated lumber to support
the gate hinge post (fig. 5).
Check measurement of gate. Actual width of the gate is 42-1/2".
The inside post -to -post dimension is 43-3/4". This will give you a
5/8" gap on both sides of the gate to the posts. DOUBLE-CHECK
ALL MEASUREMENTS!
Measure to be sure you can install the gate to the post with approximately
a 2" gap from the ground to the bottom of the gate. Align the rails on
the gate to the rails on the fence panels.
Hang the gate between the posts. Use a 5/8" spacer between the
gate and the posts (fig. 6). Secure in place with shims under the gate
or clamp the gate jamb to the post. Make sure the gate is level and
square. Attach hinge brackets to the gate post with the provided
screws (fig. 7).
Remove any clamps and shims. Attach latch using screws provided
(fig. 8).
Install a post cap on each post using PVC cement or an exterior adhesive.
NOTE: The gate latch is designed to be used on the left- or right-hand
side of the gate, depending on customer preference or design. The
latch is assembled, ready to be installed on the right-hand side of the
gate. If you desire to switch the latch follow these simple steps:
• Remove the 2 shoulder bolts and spring
• Change the orientation of the striker
• Reattach the spring and insert the shoulder bolts
• Shoulder bolts must be fully tightened. Thread -locking adhesive
is recommended.

NOTE: PicketLock- is a
patent -pending technology
that provides a glue- and
fastener -free connection
between the pickets and
rails. You may spray soapy
water onto components to
help them slide more easily
into their corresponding
channels. A non -marring
rubber mallet may also
be used to gently tap
components more firmly
into place.
PLANNING: Prior to con-
struction, check with your
local regulatory agency for
special code requirements in
your area. Contact your
utility supplier to locate and
mark underground lines.
Careful planning and measuring of your fence project is essential, as
moving posts after the concrete sets is extremely difficult.
Find a clean surface for
gate panel assembly.
Beginning with the starter
picket, lay all pickets in the
same direction and connect
them so the tongue side fits
into the groove side. Finish
with the end picket (fig. 1).
Starter
Starting 1/8" from the edge, place two of
the center -mount rails across the pickets
so the notched rails line up with the
grooves on the pickets. Using a non -mar-
ring rubber mallet, tap the center -mount
rails to lock them into place (fig. 2).
Carefully flip the panel over and install the
remaining center -mount rails as outlined
above. Be sure to start each rail 1/8" from
the edge.

fig. 2
Place the gate jambs on the ground. The end of the jamb that will be
the top of the gate measures 13-3/4" from top to first notched space
(fig. 3a).
Working from one end of the jamb to the other, insert the assembled
panel into the groove of the jamb and work it into place (fig. 3b)
Note: The center -mount rails are a snug fit and may require some
additional force to set into place. Slide the center -mount rails into the
groove in the jamb at a slight angle and hold in place with downward
pressure. While applying downward pressure, carefully tap the other
side with a rubber mallet to help fit into place (fig. 3c).

Slide the hinged brackets onto the jambs and line up with the predrilled
holes in the center -mount rails. Drill through the predrilled guide holes
using a'/4" drill bit (fig. 5). You must drill out the predrilled holes so the
bolts will go through the center -mount rails. Fasten the hinged brackets
to the jamb using the bolts and cap nuts provided.
Fasten the non -hinged brackets to the jamb on the other side following
the steps above (fig. 5).

Dig post holes 18" to 24" in diameter and 36" to 42" deep (depending
on local ordinance or expected frost depth in winter). We recommend
that you insert a piece of 4x4 treated lumber to support the gate hinge
post (fig. 6).
Check measurement of gate. Actual width of the gate is 42-1/2".

Product Information
What is Veranda's Vinyl Fence made of?
Vinyl is short for polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which is used for pipe, windows, and other construction
products. For our fence components, we add titanium dioxide (TiO2) UV inhibitors and acrylic
impact modifiers. This blend of ingredients ensures a durable, low -maintenance fence that IasJ9%t%
lifetime.
How strong is vinyl? ••••• •
Our vinyl contains impact modifiers that meet or exceed all ASTM standards for vin—irfencing.'
Vinyl has five times the tensile strength of wood and four times the flexibility. If yQjr•;i*nyl doe•"
become damaged as a result of unusual impact, it can easily be replaced. • • • • • •
• ,.
Does Veranda's vinyl meet building codes? 00
Our vinyl is designed to meet or exceed most major building code regulations. Codes differ from
region to region, so please consult your local code official before installing your fence.
What kind of warranty is available for vinyl fencing?
We offer a lifetime limited warranty for our vinyl fencing products.
Does vinyl become brittle in winter?
Vinyl becomes less flexible when exposed to cold climate, but it's designed to accommodate
normal temperature fluctuations. The added impact modifiers prevent vinyl from breaking or
cracking unless it's exposed to unusual impact.
How does vinyl hold up to weed trimmers?
Direct contact with lawn and garden equipment can damage vinyl fence posts. Use caution when
operating such equipment near your fence.
Will vinyl become yellow over time?
No. Our vinyl contains TiO2, which has been proven to prevent discoloration from exposure to the
sun and the environment. All of our vinyl products are warranted against discoloration for 20
years.
Will vinyl burn?
Vinyl will burn, but unlike wood, once the flame has been removed, vinyl is self -extinguishing.
Can I paint vinyl?
Vinyl is a non -porous material; therefore, paint doesn't adhere to it well. Only epoxy -based paint
will stick to vinyl over an extended period of time. But paint can damage the vinyl's surface and
thus voids the warranty.
Is vinyl graffiti -proof?
Although not classified as graffiti -proof, the non -porous surface makes it difficult for graffiti to
adhere to vinyl. Most paint can be removed with ease using a mild detergent and water. For ..

Over time, the price of vinyl compares favorably with wood. Through the years, the cost to •,,,, •
maintain a wood fence adds up. Vinyl is virtually maintenance -free, so you won't spend time and
money painting, staining, or repairing a vinyl fence.
Installation
Does the installation of vinyl differ from that of wood fencing?
Vinyl fencing installs much like a wood panel, but we recommend that you install one fence
section as each post hole is dug, prepared, and filled with concrete. Refer to the installation
instructions for more information.
Should I fill my vinyl fence posts with cement?
You do not need to fill your vinyl fence posts with cement in most applications. If you live in an
area with high winds or extreme weather, it is good practice to cement all your posts for added
stability.
Care and Cleaning
What kind of care and maintenance does vinyl require?
Vinyl is virtually maintenance -free. There's no need to scrape, paint, or stain a vinyl fence. As
with most exterior products, our fence may become dirty when exposed to the elements.
Pressure washing with a mild detergent and water should keep your vinyl fence looking new. For
stubborn stains, use a non-abrasive cleanser and a soft -bristled brush.
