Mr. Ricky Simmerman asked what are the benefits/negatives of designation of a home as Historic. He is also concerned about the demolition of some of the historic designated homes. Public Comment Closed. Ms. Bonaduce mentioned her Facebook account for showcase of the Historic homes. Reports of the Historic Markers was done. Three markers approved. The Board discussed the marker text to be reviewed by the Village Attorney. Staff informs the Board that once the document is final it will be reviewed. The Board feels good about the Marker text. There is consensus about the Marker text. Motion to approve document with minor changes by Chairman Castellanos, seconded by Ms. Headley and the Motion was approved 5-0. The Board proposed adding the Historic Board Application on the Miami Shores Village Webpage. Discussion about the application took place. The Board discussed creating the files for the 22 locally designated Historic Homes and creating a record from the archives. Staff said it can be added on the webpage and designate who in the Board will be in charge of this task. Description or background, the historic significance for the designation. Include photographs is very important. The Board is in agreement about what needs to be done for creating these files. Mr. Castellanos spoke about finalizing the letter to be sent out to the public notice. It needs to be emailed to Staff for review. The Board is interested in preserving the Historic Homes. Staff spoke about the ordinance to be presented at Council. House of the Quarter was discussed. 262 NE 96 Street to be September Historic House of the month. Mr. Perry Alexander is the owner. The Board will inform Mr. Perry. Certificate of Appreciation will be provided by Ms. Headley. Ms. Bonaduce will provide the pictures. Next Historic Preservation Board Meeting will be on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at 6:30 PM. 5) ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned.
