as a fire retardant.
• Inter -ply installation:
o Hot mop one (1) ply of GAF Ruberoid 20 smooth membrane, a resilient modified
non -woven glass mat, with roofing asphalt to enforce a watertight surface.
o Mechanically fasten 3"0"D . `jR 26g galvanized edge flashing along the
perimeter of the roof to secure and protect the roof's boundaries.
■ Homeowner to choose metal color.
o Install new 5"x 7" metal step flashing by mechanically fastening 1 1/4" nails where
a sloped deck meets a vertical surface.
o Apply one coat of Tropical 4410 quick dry asphalt primer on all metals to prepare
a suitable adhesion surface.
o Reinforce new drip edge by hot mopping one strip of ply of GAF Ruberoid 20
smooth membrane along the perimeter of the roof.
o Replace roof vents and lead stack for code compliance.
• Cap sheet and surfacing installation:
o Hot mop final ply of GAFGLAS MINERAL SURFACED CAP SHEET for a
durable and UV protectant granulated surface.
o Apply loose granules along asphalt seams for a detailed and clean finished
appearance.

HIGH VELOCITY HURRICANE ZONES — REQUIRED OWNERS NOTIFICATION FOR ROOFING
CONSIDERATIONS
1524.1 Scope. As it pertains to the section, it is the responsibility of roofing contractor to provide the owner with
the required roofing permit, and to explain to the owner the content of the section. The provisions of Section R4402
govern the minimum requirements and standards of the industry for roofing system installations. Additionally, the
following items should be addressed as part of the agreement between the owner ant the contractor. The owner's
initial in the designated space indicates that the item has been explained.
2• Renailing wood decks: When replacing roofing, the existing wood roof deck may have to
be r nailed in accordance with the current provisions of Section R4403. (The roof deck is usually
concealed prior to removing the existing roof system).
4• Exposed Ceiling: Exposed, open beam ceilings are where the underside of the roof decking
can be iewed from below. The

Insulation may be installed in multiple layers. The first layer shall be attached in compliance with Product Control
Approval guidelines. All other layers shall be adhered in a full. mopping of approved asphalt applied within the
EVT range and at a rate of 20401bs./sq., or mechanically attached using the fastening pattern of the top layer
All standard panel sizes are acceptable for mechanical attachment. When applied in approved asphalt, panel size
shall be 4' x 4' maximum.
An overlay and/or recovery board insulation panel is required on all applications over closed cell foam insulations
when the base sheet is fully mopped. If no recovery board is used the base sheet shall be applied using spot
mopping with approved asphalt, 12" diameter circles, 24" o.c.; or strip mopped 8" ribbons in three rows, one at
each sidelap and one down the center of the sheet allowing a continuous area of ventilation. Encircling of the
