HISTORIC PRESEREVATION BOARD MEETING MINUTES

1) CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Wesley Castellanos called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM.

Motion to approve the minutes for November 20, 2019 made by Mr. Bramson, seconded by Ms.
Headley and the Motion was approved 4-0.

5.A DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING THE HISTORIC DESIGNATION
APPLICATION AND PROCESS.
Discussion by the Board and Staff regarding the application process, letter to be drafted for the Historic
Properties. Mr. Bramson asked Staff to resend the letter to him. Chairman Castellanos
proposed to wait for Mr. Barker to be present to continue this discussion.
Mr. Kendall informed the board that he had a meeting with the Village Manager, Mr. Tom Benton
regarding how to put out the information through social media and also the Historic House of
the Month.
The Board discussed that there will be 4 house of the month to be named per year. Ms. Headley
informed the Board that Ms. Mary Benton had agreed to have her house as the first named
Historic House of the Month.
Motion to name Ms. Benton's home as the First Historic House of the Month made by Chairman
Castellanos, seconded by Ms. Headley and the Motion was approved 4-0.
Ms. Headley offered to make all the arrangements to set up for the First House of the Month
Recognition by Council.
Ms. Bonaduce presented to the Board and members of the public present a very unique and extensive
information package and maps about the Historic Homes in Miami Shores Village. She
recommends that the Board wait until there is more awareness and information sent out via
social media before sending the letter that the Board is going to draft before our next meeting in
February.
Mr. Kendall gave an explanation of the steps needed for the process to designate the Historic
Homes. He also asked that the Board focus on reviewing and completing the letter and the
process by which historic homeowners will be notified.
There was consensus amongst the Board about designating the Board's meeting in February to
complete the letter.
Motion made by Ms. Bonaduce present at the April event at the library, seconded by Ms. Headley and
the Motion was approved 4-0.
There was consensus by the Board to have Chairman Castellanos give a 10-15 minutes’ presentation
before Council on February 11, 2020 at 6:30 PM.
Ms. Bonaduce will donate all the maps and research she has completed to the Miami Shores Village
Library.
There was a short discussion before finalizing today's meeting.
