R-2020-04I RESOLUTION NO: 2020 -04 2 3 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF MIAMI 4 SHORES VILLAGE, FLORIDA REGARDING THE USE OF 5 FERTILIZERS IN MIAMI SHORES AND DIRECTING STAFF TO 6 DEVELOP A BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICES PLAN FOR 7 MIAMI SHORES RESIDENTS AND THEIR YARD SERVICES; 8 AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. 9 10 WHEREAS, Miami Shores Village has frontage on Biscayne Bay and other nutrient - 11 sensitive bodies of water, and these bodies of water have an extreme impact on our 12 quality of life. 13 14 WHEREAS, our understanding of the science of nutrient pollution of these bodies of 15 water has grown in recent years to include the importance of municipal and resident 16 involvement in establishing surface and groundwater best management practices 17 (BMP) and to prevent algae blooms. 18 19 WHEREAS, it is widely known that our residents have a deep desire to voluntarily 20 understand and comply with such aforementioned best management practices to 21 ensure the best possible environmental preservation for our future. 22 23 24 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF MIAMI SHORES 25 VILLAGE, FLORIDA: 26 27 28 Section 1.
