Bearing the UL Classification Mark Rit➢i REF: 04NF9094 IS 'ILK" Corporate Headquarters Mr. Mike Dominquez Santa Rosa All Weather Insulation 6130 N.W. 74 Avenue Miami, FL 33166 Re: 9835 NW 2 Ave Dear Mr. Dominquez: Isolatek International 41 Furnace Street Stanhope, NJ 07874 Telephone: 973.347.1200 April 4, 2019 This is in regards to CAFCO® BLAZE -SHIELD® II Spray Applied Fire Resistive Material (SFRM) for the above referenced project. It is our understanding that project conditions consist of a shaft wall constructed of 2 inch by 6 inch wood studs and gypsum wallboard cover on both sides. You have inquired as to a method for achieving a 2 hour rated wall. We propose first removing one side of the gypsum wallboard cover. CAFCO BOND -SEAL must be applied as a sealant to the back side of the in place gypsum wall board. CAFCO BLAZE -SHIELD 11 will then be sprayed into the cavity to a minimum thickness of 3-5/8' in accordance with UL Design U357. The entirety of the cavity does not need to be filled. Please be advised that the CAFCO BLAZE -SHIELD II must be completely cured prior to the reinstallation of the gypsum wall board and the cavity being sealed. It is our opinion that the fire resistive rating shall be achieved provided that the CAFCO SFRM is applied in accordance with the written application and installation instructions, the method proposed, and UL Guidelines. The above recommendation is being provided to assist the architect, project team, owner and authority having jurisdiction to determine a suitable protection method for the construction assembly. Authorities having jurisdiction should be consulted in all cases where approval is to be obtained for all installations that fall outside the scope of UL or design guidelines. We trust this information is of assistance. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact the undersigned at 973-347-1200. NF Cc: J. Steck - Isolatek International ir i Brand Sincerely, Nicholas Federici Applications & Development Engineer CAFCe Fire Protection Products www.isolatek.com ISOLATEK® Brand 0 INTERNATIONAL' DESCRIPTION CAFCO BLAZE -SHIELD II HS is a high strength commercial density,Pordand cement based Spray -Applied Fire Resistive Material (SFRM) that is specially formulated to satisfy the International Building Code (IBC) bond strength requirement for buildings up to 420 It in height. The inorganic composition of CAFCO BLAZE -SHIELD II HS, combined with its UL "investigated for exterior use"classification, allows CAFCO BLAZE -SHIELD It HSto withstand exposure to weather conditions during the construction cycle without compromising the fire resistive rating. In addition to fire resistance, CAFCO BLAZE -SHIELD II HS provides thermal and acoustical enhancements to construction assemblies, reducing heat loss and providing excellent sound absorption for high noise areas. The R-value added by CAFCO BLAZE -SHIELD II HS may also allow for a reduction in roof insulation. Its high recycled content, dry -mix application, and reduced labor cost to install make CAFCO BLAZE -SHIELD II HS the most cost effective SFRM for satisfying the IBC bond strength requirements for buildings up to 420 It in height.
