The meeting was called to order at 5:45 p.m.
The main purpose of this special Fine Arts meeting is to discuss the utility boxes. In a recent
email the cost of the wrapping was discussed and the artist, Courtney Einhorn, became aware
of the total cost of the wrapped utility boxes, and inquired about renegotiating her cost that had
already approved. Mr. Bruce has recently spoken with Ms. Einhorn and she has agreed to
continue as the artist for the agreed upon amount of $700. The Commission has agreed to
stay with Ms. Einhorn for the utility box project.
Discussion turned to the October library exhibit. It was noted that the Library Board is
requesting two options to select from for art exhibits. Ms. Ackley noted that the Commission
has never submitted more than one artist to the Library Board previously. Ms. Ackley related
that during a Council meeting the Village Attorney said selecting artists for exhibits is in the
Commission’s perview. Ms. Rojas suggested that Commission members should attend the
Library Board meeting and make a presentation selling the artist, instead of just submitting the
works of the selected artist to the Board. Ms. Ackley noted the Commission could move the art
exhibit to The Sandbox if necessary. Mr Stock said the Library Board just wants to make sure
the work exhibited is appropriate for their patrons. Ms. Ackley noted it is difficult enough to find
one artist. Ms. Rojas offered to make the presentation to the Library Board in June.
The meeting adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
