Site Location and Site Description: • •': • • "" •""' The site for the proposed facility is located on 10125 Biscayne Blvd Ml rni S+rLS,' Florida 33138. A Qetdfl• exploration and subsequent analysis undertaken are discussed 8NRZ:4ded•v44th• this report. •" Field Exploration Program: The field exploration program consisted of performing two (2) Standard Penetration Test (SPT) borings. The SPT borings were performed within the proposed area of the building. The borings were advanced to a depth of forty (40ft) feet below the actual ground surface using the methodology outlined in ASTM D-1586. Split -spoon soil samples recovered during performance of the borings were visually classified in the field. The groundwater level of the borings locations was measured upon completion of the drilling. Procedure Method The penetration testing and soil sampling are accomplished simultaneously using procedures in general accordance with ASTM D-1586, the Standard Penetration Test (SPT). A 2-inch O.D by 1.4 inch I.D. split -spoon samplers is driven with a 140 pounds hammer falling 30 inches. The number of hammer blows required to drive the sampler is recorded on the bore hole logs entitled Soil Standard Penetration Test Result. Where possible, the sampler is driven 24 inches, with the hammer blows being recorded for each of four 6-inch intervals. The "Penetration Resistance" or "N" value is the sum of the blows recorded for the second and third six inch intervals. This value is widely accepted by geotechnical engineer as an indication of the relative density and strength of the soil being sampled. The measured water levels were measured at depth of (6'-6") below the ground surface on the dates indicated in the Appendix. Fluctuations in the groundwater levels should be anticipated throughout the year primarily due to seasonal variations in rainfall and other factors that may vary from the time the borings were conducted. The normal seasonal high groundwater level each year is the level in the August -September period of the rainy season. These levels may be modified at any time a hurricane hit the area during the expected hurricane season (June -October) and groundwater level may top the ground surface level. Discussion: This work consists of building a new pool, pool deck, and an addition located on Northeast corner from the existing property. The dens?ly and vjQjQr, content shall be checked by a Geotechnical Engineer periodicblly. 4. The footing for columns and the continuous footing shall be placed at a depth of two (2) feet below the ground surface. The maximum allowable soil bearing pressure is recommended at (2,500) pounds per square feet. 5. After the building area is prepared in accordance with our recommendations, the site should be suitable for supporting the proposed conventional shallow foundation with an allowable soil bearing pressure of 2,500 pounds per square foot. Conclusion: The above findings are based on our soil standard penetration data and information obtained at the test locations. Uniformity of soil strata in the immediate vicinity may be assumed, however, it is not guaranteed, and this office assumes no responsibility of areas other than those where the sub -soil investigation was made and reported here -in. In order to assure proper performance of foundations and to assure that the design requirements are fulfilled in actual construction, it is recommended that all earthwork compaction and foundation excavation be performed by this office or under supervision of a Geotechnical Engineer. DESIGN PARAMETERS FOR SWIMMING POOL• • ; • • • • .... Swimming pools are designed for at least two types of loading conditions, (al:M empty pool and (b) pool filled to the designed water level inside it. :":': ' Loading condition (a) requires that the bottom floor slab be designed for the upward: (or uplift) water pressure caused by the presence of a water table level higher than the' bottom floor of the pool. It also requires that the walls be designed to resist the pressure of water outside the pool's walls and the effective active or at rest earth pressure of the natural soil or compacted backfill surrounding the walls. The choice of active or at rest earth pressure will depend on the relative displacement of the walls during this particular loading condition. Loading condition (b) requires that the bottom floor slab be designed for a downward force equal to the weight pool's walls, floor slab, and the weight of water contained in the pool minus the upward force due to upward total force constituted by the upward water force and the weight of soil excavated over the plan area required to build the pool. The pool's walls need to be designed for the differential, if any, between the water pressure inside and outside of the pool plus the effective active or at -rest earth pressure of the natural or backfilled soil. The choice of earth pressure depends on the relative displacements of the wall during these particular loading conditions. The Calculation of upward and lateral water pressures requires the water level outside the walls to be established for the critical height during the service life of the pool. The critical height for the service life of the pool is established at the final ground level of the pool. The ground water level shown on August 18`h, 2015 in boring B-1 is 6'-6" feet below the ground at the location of the boring. There is Rock at 7'-0" below hard compacted Clay and layer of Dark & Gray Sand above the Marl is not suitable material. It is recommended to support the bottom floor slab of the pool on the Lime Rock at depth of seven (7) feet below ground surface level at the location of the boring B-1.
