R-2019-06RESOLUTION NO. 2019-06 WHEREAS, a municipal election was held on April 9, 2019 to elect four members of the Village Council; and WHEREAS, the Canvassing Board has canvassed and certified the election results, and the Village Council of Miami Shores Village wishes to adopt the election results as certified by the Canvassing Board, attached hereto as Exhibit 1. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE, FLORIDA, THAT: Section 1. A canvas of the returns from the Election held on April 9, 2019 discloses that from 7,228 qualified electors residing in the Village, 2,115 ballots were cast at said election. Section 2. Said returns disclose that the seven candidates for the office of Council Member received votes as follows and attached hereto as Exhibit 1: Alice Burch 1,262 Stephen Loffredo 893 Julio Martinez 403 Jonathan Meltz 1,025 Miryam Rojas 805 Christian Ulvert 893 Crystal Wagar 1,440 Section 3. Crystal Wagar, receiving 1,440 votes, and Alice Burch, receiving 1,262 votes, are hereby declared to be elected to four-year terms as Council Members of Miami Shores Village and that Jonathan Meltz, receiving 1,025 votes, is hereby declared to be elected to a two-year term as a Council Member of Miami Shores Village. Section 4. After the canvass of provisional ballots and completion of election certification by the canvassing board, said returns further disclose a tie-vote between Stephen Loffredo and Christian Ulvert for the fourth seat. Section 5. Pursuant to Section 22(2) of the Village Charter, a special run-off election is necessary to determine the successful candidate to fill the fourth vacancy on the Miami Shores Village Council. Said run-off election will be held on April 30, 2019. A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE, FLORIDA, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE MIAMI SHORES VILLAG E COUNCIL ELECTION HELD ON APRIL 9, 2019, AS CERTIFIED BY THE CANVASSING BOARD AND ATTACHED HERETO; PROVIDING FOR A RUNOFF ELECTION WHICH WILL BE HELD ON APRIL 30, 2019; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
