PROCLAMATION OF STATE OF EMERGENCY HURRICANE IRMA
Whereas, on Monday, September 4, 2017, at 11:00 AM, Florida Governor Rick Scott issued Executive
Order 17 -235 proclaiming a statewide Emergency Declaration for ail 67 counties in the State based upon the five-
day forecast from the National Hurricane Center that predicted Hurricane Irma posed a severe threat to the entire
State of Florida and required timely precautions be taken to protect the communities, critical infrastructure, and
general welfare of the State:
Whereas, Miami Shores Village being an incorporated municipality with Miami -Dade County located in
the north - eastern portion of the County within 100 miles of the forecast path of Hurricane Irma and therefore
exposed to impact from Hurricane Irma.
Whereas, I, Mac Glinn, as Mayor of the City of Miami Shores Village, hereby recognize and accept the
Executive Order 17 -235 signed by Governor Rick Scott on September 4, 2017 and hereby Proclaim a State of
Emergency for the City of Miami Shores Village existed on that date and continues to exist.
Whereas, this proclamation also endorses the statutes and ordinances of Miami -Dade County regarding
price gouging of commodities and goods sold within the City of Miami Shores Village and further authorizes the
Chief of Police of the Village of Miami Shores to recommend curfews and other protective measures to the Mayor
of the Village of Miami Shores for his approval as determined necessary to ensure public safety and general
welfare of the citizens of the City of Miami Shores Village;
Whereas, the applicable laws and statutes of the State of Florida implemented In Executive Order 17 -235
are hereby adopted and included in this proclamation, as appropriate to the Village of Miami Shores; and
Whereas, this proclamation shall expire in sixty (60) days unless otherwise modified, extended or
withdrawn.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DECLARED AND ORDERED that a copy of this proclamation shall be
forwarded to the Mayor of the County of Miami -Dade County and to the Governor, State of Florida; and
IT IS HEREBY FURTHER DECLARED that Tom Benton, Village Manager of the City of Miami Shores Village,
is hereby designated as the authorized representative of the Village of Miami Shores for the purpose of receipt,
processing and coordination of all inquiries and requirements necessary to obtain available State and Federal
assistance and disaster cost reimbursement. /
