Advisory Board Meeting
Wednesday,June 29,2011
Present: H. Spahn,L. Mennes,R. Swan,G. Schmidt,B. Brown,H. Orlin,R. Sickelsmith,
R. Strickland and A. Pozzi
Meeting was called to order at 5:30 pm
A.Pozzi—Let minutes stand as read
A.Pozzi—as a result of the inclement weather we have postponed the planned tour of the golf course to the
July 27 meeting
Progress report on the Golf Course Renovation
• The construction of the first nine greens and installation of their respective bunkers has been
completed
• The greens east of the railroad tracks were fumigated with methyl bromide to ensure that we have
sterile soil to plant and will be covered with a tarp for 48 hours
• Beginning the installation of new sand into the renovated bunkers this week
• The architect will visit Friday at 8 am to review the final grade of the first nine greens,if he signs
off,sodding of the greens,slopes and greens surrounds will begin on Saturday.
• All greens slopes and surrounds will be sodded,greens surfaces will be sprigged immediately after
the sod work is completed
• The first core aerification of the tees has been completed
• Next week will begin the aerification of the fairways and rough,utilizing a newly purchased piece
of equipment(aerway).
• Architect will return late next week to approve final grade on the remaining greens
• The project is still within the scheduled time frames and we expect planting to be completed by July
15
Clubhouse Renovation ,
Bar Lounge
• Ceiling tiles replacement will be completed by week of July 11
• Installation of new speaker system(Courtesy of John Challenor,the Phone Doctor)
• Painting to be completed by week of July 18
Other
• Renovation of mens room
• Renovation of the mens locker room to include showers and ceilings,bathrooms and carpeting
• Pro shop renovation to include the installation of new carpeting and display features
• Kitchen renovation to include the replacement of broilers,grills,stoves, fryolators, griddles and
ovens
New Business:
A. Pozzi—Mr. Schmidt's suggestion to appoint a member of the advisory board to serve as a liaison with the
City Council was discussed in the advisory board meeting on May 25 and the Boards' consensus was that
submitting the minutes of the meeting to the Mayor and City Council through the City Manager's office
would be a more effective way of communicating

H. Spahn—Had a great time on the closing the course golf tournament,staff did a great job
L.Mennes—The tennis proshop looks great
H. Orlin—
• Courts are redone
• Resurfaces the courts every 20 days
• Roll them once a week
• The bathroom renovation is complete
• Next project is the landscaping
• Will install new windscreens and pads for light poles after the hurricane season
• Junior Summer Camp started,the participation is better then last year
• Did a great job on marketing
• The camp starts a week earlier and ends a week later than competing summer camps
G. Schmidt—No Comment

• New lunch menu in place
• There are some price increases
• A variety of new items that everyone will enjoy
R. Swan—the presentation of the new menu items is fantastic
A. Pozzi—For infonnational purposes. We have learned that the renovation and transformation of Westview
Country Club to the Miami National Golf Club has been cancelled. The new ownership decided the project
was not economically feasible
