5:30pm A. Pozzi opens meeting and refers to Howie Orlin for report on tennis operations
H. Orlin:Tennis membership was down, so the tennis courts were opened to the public January 1, 2011.
This has been very well received and aggressive promotion program is in place. New courts were
installed and look very nice. Woman's Team has a tournament on 1/27/11. Monday night men's
program is very popular. Plans are in place to ask visiting pros to visit the new courts and a tentative
grand opening is being discussed for March.
A. Pozzi: Wishes Happy New Year to Board members. Plans to reconstruct greens are in place and the
course will close on July 5, 2011. Work will also be performed on irrigation and other issues on the
course. Members will be able to use Premier Cards at 24 other courses during this period. Tee
Renovations have been very successful and well received by golfers. December and January golf play
has been very good compared to year previous which was a 'down'year. Bonanza program and
increased hotel play have helped.
J.Walters:Can visiting tennis pro's do a meet and greet at the clubhouse?
A. Pozzi: Depends on their schedule.
H. Orlin: Will call to see if pro's can do it.
A. Pozzi: January, February and March business is critical, especially since the course is closed this
summer. We are negotiating with well known golf school to open short-game school at MSCC. Miami
City Club has closed and is indicative of the business model of private clubs. Both Westview and Indian
Creek have lost a significant number of members as the golf industry, in general, struggle.
H.Span: Had dinner last Thursday. Bartenders working the dining room floor are a good idea and
everything was good.
A. Pozzi: How was the music?
