Advisory Board Meeting
Wednesday,July 29,2009
Present: H. Spahn,J. Spahn,B. Swan,R. Gonzalez,J. Walters,M. Agosta,L. Mennes,
R. Sickelsmith,R. Baker,R. Strickland and A. Pozzi
Alberto—
• Tom asked to write a proposal on the club was planning to do, going before the council in
September
• Will still have golf and tennis membership and offer the discount on food and beverage
• Only thing that changes is there will no social membership fee
0 Last year membership represented a little less than$90000 for dues income
• We keep loosing members, younger people are not joining the club as social members
• People are pulling back on their spending
• Hope to make up the difference on volume,also eliminating some social functions
• Summer promoted to Miami Shores residents
R. Gonzalez—What about entertainment?
Alberto—
• For the summer we have a piano player for Sunday brunch and the jazz duo, in the fall we will
expand to another night
• Free to advertise on October 1, in the Miami Herald and weekend update,direct mail and
facebook
• We have basic expenses that keep running whether we are generating profit or not
R. Gonzalez—How many council members are members?
Alberto—Zero,some are here for functions
L. Mennes—Print out menu for friday and send it out
R. Sickelsmith—From servers,bussers,bartenders,cooks and management,we could not keep staff here if
we closed on Friday and Sunday brunch,we tie a lot of banquets to the Sunday brunch, the
last 8 weeks we had the band$15-$18 per head went to the band,we are struggling to make
ends meet.
Alberto—sold close to 10000 premier cards
New Business:
H. Spahn—Should we have a specialist to help out to do a marketing blitz?
Alberto—We do have a webmaster
J. Spahn—No Comments
M. Agosta—Will be happy to help us with anything

B. Swan—Get everything ready for when the time comes to advertise,should get some diversity with the
music
J. Walters—Been here 3 times, could not get a table,likes the new menu and his guests liked it, closed the
bar 2 times at 10 pm
L. Mennes—
• Likes the menu a lot,salmon very good
• Wants to thank everybody for Marty's retirement party
• Is tennis going to stay the same?
A. Pozzi-
• Going to stay with the program he now has,only change is he is going to offer a team membership,
in an effort to bolster the number of players
• Summer programs went very well,thrilled with the numbers
• Ron and the golf instructors have an all day golf came that held its numbers
• We had a family that joined because the kids loved camp
R. Baker—
• Summer very active
• Working with Howie to do combo programs
• Give destination name to club
R. Sickelsmith—Will adapt as we go along with continued support
R. Strickland—No Comments
