ADVISORY BOARD
MEETING MINUTES
MAY 30, 2001
PRESENT: HERB SPAHN, RICHARD THORNTON, ANGIE NIEHOFF, LINDA
MENNES, ALBERTO POZZI AND MIKE WALSH
EXCUSED: KEN HARRIS, ERNEST UPTHEGROVE, JACKE HUNTER AND
MIKE MELANEFY
REVIEW OF LAST MONTH'S MEETING MINUTES
1) Alberto Pozzi discussed the arsenic contamination project will be completed in 60
Days and will cost about $30,000.
- The demolition of the old pool will begin on June 4. New parking and
landscaping will be done once the area is cleared.
- Tees being resodded are #15 and #4. The maintenance department under the
direction of Mike Melton will also begin lengthening some tees to provide more
tee areas to hit from.
- Miami Shores Country Club has also acquired a new chef(Jacques Brevery) that
comes with high recommendations to take the place of chef Arif.
2) Herb Spahn brought a message from Jackie Hunter saying that the ladies tee
placements on 47 and #15 need to be on the left.
- Bridge tournaments that are run once a month should open up to ideas to create
new avenues to increase participation. The Board discussed some plusses and
minuses.
3) Richard Thornton discussed about the Gus (the beverage cart driver) to circulate more
often around the golf course. Alberto Pozzi will discuss this with him.
4) Linda Mennes commented that the Club participation in tournaments is poor.
Alberto Pozzi will talk with Mike Melanefy in forming a committee to find
alternative solutions to this problem.
5) Ernest Upthegrove commented on the odors protruding from the on-course restrooms.
Meeting adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
