ADVISORY BOARD MEETING
November 26, 1991
?resent : Lewis Harms, Chairman; Ernest Upthegrove; Richard J.
Haft; Nina Huston, Chairperson of the Ladies ' Golf
Ass 'n. ; Joe Obermeyer; Agnes Aspinall ; and Chuck
Hart .
Absent : Joe Schwartz .
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Harms.
I . Report of Mr . Hart :
Mr . Hart first announced that he would provide a revised
roster of the Advisory Board members.
1 . Golf Course: landscape and clean up work is 60%
completed. We are dealing with fungus problem on the
first green caused by excessive rain, by overseeding.
Mr . Hart brought the Board up to date on progress of
talks with FEC. Mr . Thornton expressed concern
about kids trespassing on course, which, according to
Mr . Hart , will be dealt with if and when it occurs.
2 . Tennis courts : The response to a letter from. the Club
confirming the supposed concurrence by tennis
members, as per Minutes of October 30, 1991 , meeting,
to mandatory assessment for lights, was very
disappointing. There were 26 responses (about 20%) ,
of which 11 refused to be assessed.
3 . Membership: In response to Mr . Thornton' s inquiry,
there have been approximately 9 former members not
renewing due to trail fee policy.
4 . Social : The Autumn Ball was well received but
lightly attended ( 101 ) , perhaps due to a theatre
group function on the same night .
Mr . Harms: We should form a social committee to
revitalize our social affairs and spearhead bigger
attendance . Mr . Harms and Mrs. Aspinall will
provide Mr . Hart with a list by Friday, December 6,
1991 , of potential members. Mr . Hart will arrange
for an informal gathering at the Club to inaugurate
the committee. Mr . Hart stated that the Club
management would much prefer that , generally, club
members run club functions through committees.
Mrs. Huston: We should also form greens and handicap
committees.
Mrs. Aspinall : The Mayor ' s Ball will be held at the
Club on February 29 , 1992 , to commemorate the

Village ' s 60th Birthday.
Mr. Upthegrove: Inquiry as to recommencing Sunday
night dinners. Mr. Hart stated that the Club may try
them again after football season ends . They would be
a-la-carte, geared more to the younger members. In
this regard, Mr. Hart also stated the Wednesday and
Friday night dinners are turning profitable (Friday
moreso) .
Mr. Harms : With reference to the Nov. 23rd Men' s Golf
Association event , the continental breakfast was just
fine and the luncheon splendid both as to service and
variety of food.
5 . Adjacent 5-acre parcel : Mr . Hart reported on his
discussion with the Mayor about this piece . The Club
is planning to design a 3 to 6-hole 3-par "course"
(together with parking) especially for juniors. The
Club has 120 days to present a plan to the Village.
Generally, the Club has the right to use this land,
subject to Village approval , which, so far, has not
.been forthcoming, all proposed uses having been
rejected. Once improvements are approved, however,
then the Village has a right to recapture the land
upon payment to the Club of the fair market value of
the improvements. The use of the land should have
some financial benefit to the Club.
6. It was noted that the swimming pool will be
maintained in its present location and repaired.
7 . Driving Range: At present the driving range is doing
well , but the Learning Center is not .
II . Election of officers: Mr . Thornton noted that election of
officers is to take place annually; and, therefore , same
should be held at this time, whereupon the following persons
were unanimously elected:
Lewis Harms . . . . . . . Chairman
Ernest Upthegrove . . . . Vice-Chairman
Richard Haft . . . . . . Secretary.
The Chairman welcomed our new member, Mrs. Agnes Aspinall and
asked Mr . Hart to be sure that all members were reminded in
advance of Board meetings.

III . Next meeting: Mr. Thornton advised that the Board is
required to have a monthly meeting. Mindful of the fact that
Christmas this year falls on the last Wednesday of the month,
the next Board meeting will be held on Monday, December 23 ,
1991 , at 5 : 30 P.M. The meeting was thereupon declared
adjourned at 6 : 30 P.M.
Respectively submitted,
RICHARD J. HAFT
