MIAMI SHORES COUNTRY CLUB
ADVISORY BOARD MEETING
APRIL 24, 1991
Present: Lewis Harms, Joe Schwartz, Jim Meyers, Dick Thornton,
Richard Haft, Gail Macdonald, Chuck Hart
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Harms at 5:35 PM.
I. Report by Chuck Hart
1 . Driving Range - relocation and golf course renovation:
Plans have been approved by the Village Council. The new driving
range will have a dress code and will only be used by members,
students, guests of members, and possibly residents.
A: Timing - Driving Range closes May 3 , 1991
B: Trimming - Tree trimming has started. Preparing the
trees for removal and replanting.
C: Course - Work on new 2nd green and 17th fairway will
commence on May 3 , 1991 . Holes 1 , 2, 3 & 18 will be
closed. During the third week of June, the earth work
will be completed and will need 1 week to grass . Then
there will be a grow-in time, the putting greens will
need 8 weeks. During construction, the suggested order
of play will be as follows:
10, 4 , 5, 6, 7, 11 , 12, 13 , 14 (par 37)
15, 16, 17, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 (par 36)
Starting times will be made further apart. Driving
Range should be ready by end of June.
2 . Bag Boys - Problem with the bag boys, missing towels has
been solved.
3 . Putting Green - Restoring to 9 holes should take place in
about 1 month.
4 . Traffic Light - PCM associate will immediately try to push
to get traffic light.
5. Awnings - have been installed at the bar.
6. Membership - Promotion is very successful. There are 17
Intermediate memberships, 7 regular on the 18 month deal.
7 . Snack Bar - will be demolished. Also, the old men ' s rest
room has been converted into a storage room.

8. Bonaventure - Promotion is very successful . Lewis Harms
questioned as to starting time protection for members; Mr. Hart
replied that members get 7 day advance starting times, others
get 5 days , and all others pay $ 15 .00 cart fee.
9 . Member Suspension - Two members (Clay Gunderson & Ron von
Wedel ) have been suspended from the club.
II Tennis Report by Joe Schwartz -
1 . Joe Schwartz gave his report on how well Tennis is going.
2. The Club Tournament is now over and our Tennis Banquet will
be held on May 18 at the Country Club.
3. The Junior Tennis players of our Club are the champions
of the Dade South Junior Tennis League. They were honored at
F.I.U. South Campus on April 20, 1991 , and each player received
a large silver medallion.
4. The Tennis program is growing rapidly; new members are
joining. Thank everyone for their support.
