08-29-1990 Regular Meeting '. MIAMI SHORES COUNTRY CLUB A D V I S O R Y B O A R D M I N U T E S AUGUST 29, 1990 Present: Dick Thornton; Angela Daley; Addea Colangelo; Lewis Harms; Jim Meyer; Joseph Obermeyer; Joseph Schwartz; Jule Petruzziello, President Women' s Golf Assoc. ; Michael Clancy, Director of Marketing; Chuck Hart, Club Manager. Minutes of the previous meeting were corrected as follows: 1 . $ 146, 000 invested in the golf course was for equipment only. An additional $ 90, 000 represents the amount invested in cart paths, chemicals, fertilizer and labor. 2. There are no reciprocal social privileges with the Jockey Club for our Social members . Privileges for our Golf members is under consideration. Corrected minutes were approved. Report by Chuck Hart: Motorized pull carts will be mandatory only before 12: 30 PM daily. After this time, members may carry or pull carts without any trail fee. This applies to anyone who had a membership prior to September 1989 . The total cost for Capital Improvements to date is $ 542, 762, which includes both the golf course and the Clubhouse. An additional $ 70, 000 is committed to further improvements and an additional $ 65, 000 will be necessary to install lights for the Tennis Courts, if approved. These amounts far exceed the original agreement for Professional Course Management to spend a minimum of $ 450,000 . Response to the dues increase has been favorable. The dining room is exceeding expectations, and he thanked the Board members for their input. The Tennis lights issue will be presented to the Council once again after the Council members inspect the lights at a private residence in South Miami and a noise study is completed. Use of the lights until 10 : 00 PM is important to make this investment worthwhile. The Pro Shop will be moved to the Men ' s Lounge regardless of the pool plans, to provide a more efficient operation. They are satisfied with the progress of the Golf Course, although there is difficulty treating the weeds and may have to sprig some areas . The renovation of the Clubhouse is complete, and the reupholstering in the Bar area will be completed by October 1st. The "Dues and Booze" party is now scheduled for the 18th of October, instead of the 16th. A regular dinner menu will be available at a reasonable cost to supplement the complimentary Cocktail Hour. X Driving Range plans are on hold due to the present court order . Joe Schwartz: Tennis is going fine, including the Junior program. Members hope that the lights will be approved. Jule Petruzziello: The Women' s Golf Assoc. members are very satisfied with services. Angela Daley: Requested all Board members support the Autumn Ball on October 27th. Dick Thornton: Complimented the staff in the Pro Shop, and would like to see the U.S.G.A. rule system initialized. Also, asked about a handicap committee. Chuck Hart: Purchased a new computer for handicaps . Would like to meet with Dick Thornton to work out a system. Dick Thornton: The term for serving on the Advisory Board will expire October 1st for three members. He advised anyone interested to apply to the Council in writing. Meeting adjourned at 6 :45 PM.
