07-25-1990 Regular Meeting MIAMI SHORES COUNTRY CLUB ADVISORY BOARD MEETING JULY 25, 1990 a PRESENT: Angela Daley, Lewis Harms, Jim Meyer, Joseph Obermeyer, Joseph Schwartz, Chuck Hart, Club Manager, Gail Macdonald, Village Manager EXCUSED: Dick Thornton, Addea Colangelo Minutes of the previous meeting were corrected to read that motorized pull cart fees for 9 holes is $ 4 .00 . Report by Chuck Hart: Renovation of the Country Club is guaranteed completion by August 15, or penalties will be imposed on the contractors . The kitchen is completed at the cost of $ 65,000 . The decorating cost total is $ 184, 000. The board was given a tour by Chuck Hart to view the renovations, which included the new and renovated rest rooms, and the newly equipped kitchen. The Board was pleased with the progress . The next major item of discussion was Tennis court lights . Rod Mandelstam, representative of Tennis Associates, will present a bid which will include low profile lumenes lights . This will be presented to the Council at the August 21 meeting. A motion was made by Lew Harms that the Advisory Board endorses this plan on the basis that the new technology and installation of lights at the Tennis courts that was introduced to the Board would not interfere with peace and dignity of the neighbors . In addition, the Board endorses an investigation into the feasibility of installation of lights on the courts . The motion was seconded by Joseph Opermeyer; passed unanimously, motion carries . Golf Course Report - Approximately $ 146, 000 has been invested in the golf course, including equipment. Keith Garstick, Greens Superintendent, has been doing a fine job of improving the course. There have bee 53, 000 rounds of golf played this year compared to 35, 000 last year, and the maximum for this course should be 60, 000 . There are presently 430 golf members, and the plan is to cap the golf memberships at 450 in order to provide good service. A "Dues and Booze" party is scheduled for October 16th, which should allow all current members ample time to renew their memberships . After that time, membership for golf will be open to a current waiting list to fill the quote of 450 . Jim Meyer questioned the privileges allowed to our members by the Jockey Club. Advisory Board Minutes Page Two Chuck Hart - There are reciprocal social privileges, and they are permitted to join at non-resident rates, with a limit of 50 people. Lew Harms: Asked if motorized pull carts are mandatory. Chuck Hart: There will be no restrictions on hours, but carts are mandatory as of October 1 , 1990. Angela Daley: Asked about the status of the pool controversy. Chuck Hart: Future of the 5 acres, pool and driving range depends on the outcome of a present lawsuit. They do plan to carpet and convert the existing exercise room into a card room. Dining Room reservations are doing well and the "Club Talk" newsletter has been well received.
