Michael Stock
Also Present: Jerry Estep, Recreation Director
Leslie Rackl, Executive Assistant
Seth Bramson, Resident
Cheryl Gowing, Library Board
The meeting was called to order at 6:15 p.m.
It was noted that three Commission members are up for reappointment.
Discussion turned to the ‘Our Past In Pictures’ exhibit. Mr. Bruce said the decision
was made, with the library’s approval, to relocate the framed pictures. Mr. Bramson
said the map of Shoreland Boulevard needs to be in the exhibit plus he has
additional photos to be enlarged to exhibit. Mr. Bramson will be given the alcoves
with easels to exhibit his pieces. It was suggested that four photos should be
enlarged for display in the alcoves. There are six alcoves which will include the
introductory piece on Miami Shores. Mr. Bramson has negatives of ads to be
enlarged. A suggestion was made to exhibit memorabilia in the glass showcase. It
was noted that the library has advertisements that are already enlarged and are in
good condition. Mr. Bramson has four negatives of advertisements, if needed for the
exhibit.
Mr. Bruce suggested having five or six photos on each panel, each photo to be
enlarged 150%. Mr. Bruce will collaborate with the library on their photos. Mr. Bruce
will scan photos to the Community Center to see how the photos will print; if the
quality of the photos is bad, the photos will be sent to Darkroom And Digital Imaging
for printing. The budget for photo reproduction for the exhibit is $1500; $300 is
allotted for Seth Bramson’s work and $1200 for other photos. Mr. Bramson will write
up the history of Miami Shores and send it to recreation for printing. A suggestion
was made to use the photos from the Charrette for the exhibit. The Charrette was
funded by Eastward Ho!
The library will have a donation sheet at the exhibit in the event that anyone
attending the event wishes to donate their private photos. Another suggestion was
made to have an area equipped with a headset so people could listen to ‘Miami
Shores’ music, which would be on a continuous loop.
The meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
