I) CALL TO ORDER 1) Roll Call 7:00 pm Richard Fernandez, Sid Reese, John Busta and Carlos Diaz, present. Robert Abramitis, absent David Dacquisto, Planning and Zoning Director was present. II) DISCUSSION The board suspended the rules except for the role of the chair. The board opened with a general discussion of the issues before them and the charge from council. 1) Sec. 518 Fences, walls and hedges. a) Council request to consider increasing hedge height and creating a definition of hedge. The board discussed various hedge heights and the effects of each. Board considered maintenance issues with maintaining hedges an important factor in fence height. Staff to look at maintenance of hedges and definition of hedges for inclusion into code. 2) Village Council request for Planning Board to review the current zoning code and consider code amendments to DIVISION 17 Landscaping. a) Council request to consider amending Sec. 536, 537 and Sec. 538 as required including Florida Friendly Landscaping and ground cover requirements. Staff gave background on request from council. Miami Shores Village, Planning Board Meeting Minutes: June 14, 2016 2 Board talked about the look of Miami Shores. Staff to provide another draft allowing multiple types of low ground cover with 24 inch height limit. Staff to look at additional language for maintenance for including into code.
