membranes vertically on slopes of 1 inch per foot or more and
backnad them into wood milers or nailable decks approximately 4
inches from the back edge of the sheet. All end laps must be at wood
milers, and the top edge must nailed into the wood nailer on 6"
centers. Use approved roofing nails and tin caps.
The Ruberoid membranes shall be terminated at milers as dictated
above. For non-insulated wood decks, terminate and mil the end of
Ruberoid membrane on the same miler spacings indicated above. The
membrane must then be nailed off on 6"centers,2"from the top of the
membrane, into the miler or wood deck using mils with integral
metal heads at least 1"round or square. The overlapping membrane
must extend at least 6"past the center line of these mils.
See Approved Insulation and Fastening Pattern list attached.
Refer to GAF requirements for application of steep roofs..
Comment and Limitations 1. Maximum slope shall be 6":12"unless specifically approved by
GAF Technical Department. (Any application over 1":12",shall
require backnailing of all pies 4"in from the back edge of the felt into
wood milers.) On slopes greater than 1":12"all plies shall be
installed parallel to the slope. Nailing shall be through tin caps 6"
o.c..All overlapping shall overlap the tin caps a minimum of 6".
Refer to GAF requirements for installation of steep roofs. Note slope
limitations on gravel surface specifications to a maximum of 3":12".
2, An overlay insulation panel is required on all applications aver
closed cell insulations(See Insulation List).
3. All miler and metal profile design shall conform with
Factory Mutual Loss Prevention Data Sheet 1-49.
4. All asphalt shall comply with ASTM D-312 requirements.
5. Bonding and dissimilar surfaces(other than insulation facers and
asphalt saturated membranes)should be My primed with ASTM
D-41 primer for asphalt applications and allowed to fully dry.
6. This roof system assembly, when applied over a wood plank deck
with an ASTM D-2626 or D4601 base sheet mechanically attached at
9"in the lap and two rows at 18"in the field with min. 12 ga.annular
ring shank nails and tin caps has been approved for use to a maximum

7. This roof system assembly, when bonded to an insulation substrate
has been approved for use to a maximum field design velocity pressure
of-45 psf.
8. Perimeter and corner areas shall have an increase in fastener
density for both insulation and base sheet in compliance with the
Factory Mutual Loss Prevention Data sheets 1-28 and 1-28S.
9. The chosen assembly must comply with the fire resistance
requirements of Sections 3401.5 and 3401.6 of the South Florida
Building Code. Refer to fire'classification ratings'in the Underwriters
Laboratories Current-Directory.
10. Any amendments to these provisions shall be in compliance with
Section 203 and 204 of the South Florida Building Code.
11. Refer to GAF specifications for appropriate flashing materials and
their application.
12.Refer to one of the following GAF specifications for this
application: I B-5-K I-B-S NM,I-04-G,I-0-4-G-IP6,I-04-C,

13. A withdrawal resistance test shall be carried out on all reroof and
recover projects to confirm deco integrity.
14. System may be applied to Loadmaster deck system providing the
metal deck is not less than 25 ga.. The roof system shall be bonded to
a suitable insulation substrate.
15. This roof assembly, when applied over a perforated St UNcnt
base sheet in an intermidW mopping of asphalt is approved for use
over a non nailable or insulated substrate to a maximum design
velocity pressure of 30 psf:
