pz 01-28-10Page 1 of 2 Planning Board Regular Meeting January 28, 2010 MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE PLANNING BOARD REGULAR MEETING January 28, 2010 The regular meeting of the Miami Shores Planning Board was held on Thursday, January 28, 2010, at the Village Hall. Richard Fernandez, Chair at 7:00 P.M. with the following persons present, called the meeting to order: PRESENT: Richard Fernandez, Chairman Robert Abramitis Paul Madsen Sid Reese John Busta ALSO PRESENT: David Dacquisto, Zoning Director Richard Sarafan, Village Attorney Valerie Bierley, Clerk Mr. Sarafan swore in all those participating in the meeting. BOARD MEMBER DISCLOSURES: Chairman Fernandez visited 640 NE 101 St. Mr. Abramitis visited all the properties Mr. Busta visted all the properties Mr. Reese visited all the properties SCHEDULE ITEMS: PZ-12-09-2009167 Joseph & Marie Milien (Owner/Applicant) 561-563 112 St. Special Approvals, Sec. 600 & 523: Miami Dade Zoning Code applies: site plan approval, garage conversion and interior remodeling of second residence on property Mr. Dacquisto provided background information and summarized the information on the Staff Report. The Planning & Zoning staff recommended approval of the proposed site plan with the finding that it is consistent with the technical provisions of the code subject to compliance with listed conditions. The applicant did not have any questions for staff. The Board questioned staff about the ownership of the home and the second entrance. The applicant addressed the Board. The Board questioned the applicant about the second staircase outside leading upstairs to a bedroom. The applicant explained the want of a fire escape due to a previous incident. Mr. Abramitis moved to approve the application and Mr. Reese seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous in favor of the motion 5-0. Mr. Busta moved that if the applicant wants to come back before the board with the appropriate plans to include the outside stair case the fee will be waived. Mr. Reese seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous in favor of the motion 5-0. The Planning & Zoning staff recommended approval of the proposed site plan with the finding that it is consistent with the technical provisions of the code subject to compliance with listed conditions. The Board questioned Mr. Dacquisto concerning the colors recommended in the code book. The applicant questioned staff about the recommended colors given in the report. The applicant addressed the Board. The Board questioned the applicant about the type of finish used on the metal roof. Mr. Reese moved to approve the application subject to staff recommendations and Mr. Busta seconded the motion. The vote was in favor of the motion 3-2. Mr. Abramitis and Chairman Fernandez voted no. LLc (Owner) Huy Van (Applicant) 8825 Biscayne Blvd. Special Approvals, Sec. 600 & 523: Site plan approval, sec 400 schedule of regulations adopted change of use, nail salon Mr. Dacquisto provided background information and summarized the information on the Staff Report. The Planning & Zoning staff recommended approval of the proposed site plan with the finding that it is consistent with the technical provisions of the code subject to compliance with listed conditions. The Board questioned staff about the existing sign. The applicant did not address the Board. The board did not question the applicant. Mr. Madsen moved to approve the application subject to staff recommendations and Mr. Reese seconded the motion. The vote was in unanimous favor of the motion 5-0.
