RE: Change of footing for gate
Mr. Samada:
In regard to the fence drawing entitled "Weaved Aluminum Gate Detail" and
dated 6/29/2015 I have the following information. You have stated that you
installed a fixed 3' wide fence section in lieu of the 5' gate and installed one post
through a 4" thick sidewalk with a 6" core drill. You then grouted the post in the
core hole and overfilled the annular space with epoxy grout with a sand filler. As
you described the location of the core hole to be approximately 12" from the
closest edge of the slab this would be sufficient support for the one end of the 3'
section of fence as described with the other end properly attached to a concrete
wall. This meets FBC sec. 1616.2.1 "Fences not exceeding 6 feet (1829 mm) in
height from grade maybe designed for 75 mph (33 m/s) fastest mile wind speed
or 115 mph (40 m/s) 3-second gust."
