A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF MIAMI SHORES
VILLAGE, FLORIDA IN SUPPORT OF CONGRESSMAN KENDRICK
MEEK'S INITIATIVE TO PROVIDE 100% FEDERAL REIMBURSEMENT
FOR CITY, COUNTY AND STATE HURRICANE RECOVERY COSTS.
WHEREAS, many Florida counties and municipalities were severely impacted by the
numerous hurricanes that made landfall during the past hurricane season; and
WHEREAS, in an effort to lessen the financial ramifications and burdens placed on local
taxpayers, Congressman Kendrick Meek led the effort to seek 100% federal reimbursement for
city, county and state hurricane recovery costs; and
WHEREAS, the Miami Shores Village Council commends Congressman Meek's
attempts to assist the residents of storm damaged areas by requesting that state, county and
municipal organizations be fully reimbursed for the costs of hurricane clean-up, therefore not
needing to pass along unanticipated and unbudgeted costs to the individual taxpayers;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL:
Section 1. That the Miami Shores Village Council hereby endorses, supports and
encourages Congressman Meek's efforts in seeking 100% federal reimbursement for hurricane
recovery costs.
