A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL ADOPTING THE
NATIONAL INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (NIMS) AS REQUIRED BY
HOMELAND SECURITY PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE — 5
WHEREAS, A Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD-5, February 28,
2003) established the National Incident Management System (NIMS); and
WHEREAS, NIMS establishes a single, comprehensive approach to disaster
incident management to ensure that all levels of government across the nation have the
capability to work together efficiently and effectively, applying a national approach to
disaster incident management; and
WHEREAS, NIMS provides a consistent, nationwide framework for federal, state
and local governments to work together to prepare for, respond to, and recover from
disaster incidents regardless of cause, size, or complexity; and
WHEREAS, the NIMS provides for interoperability and compatibility between
federal, state and local capabilities and includes a core set of concepts, principles,
terminology and technologies,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Miami Shores Village adopts the
National Incident Management System as its system for preparing for and responding to
disaster incidents.
