RESOLUTION 1089-05
A RESOLUTION OF THE NIIANII SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL TO
ENTER INTO AN URBAN AND COMMUNITY FORESTRY GRANT
MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT AND A MAINTENANCE
MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF FLORIDA,
DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND CONSUMER SERVICES,
DIVISION OF FORESTRY.
WHEREAS,trees are an important part of our community; and
WHEREAS,Miami Shores Village wants to maintain our urban forest to the highest
possible standards; and
WHEREAS,Miami Shores Village desires to apply for an Urban and Community
Forestry Grant which would provide monies in which to help partially eradicate State-declared
nuisance trees(melaleuca) and replace them with quality oak trees; and
WHEREAS,Miami Shores Village wishes to enter into an Urban and Community
Forestry Grant Memorandum of Agreement and a Maintenance Memorandum of Agreement
between Miami Shores Village, Florida and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer
Services;
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Miami Shores Village Council,that:
Section 1. The Village Council supports the program to partially eradicate these
nuisance trees and improve the quality of our urban forest by replacing them with live oak trees.
Section 2. The Village Council hereby authorizes the Village Manager to enter into
an Urban and Community Forestry Grant Memorandum of Agreement and a Maintenance
Memorandum of Agreement between Miami Shores Village, Florida and the Florida Department
of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
