R-1046-02 RESOLUTION NO. 1046-02 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL, MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE, FLORIDA, OPPOSING THE REPEAL OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY'S HUMAN RIGHTS ORDINANCE WHICH PROHIBITS DISCRIMINATION BASED ON SEXUAL ORIENTATION AND EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR THAT ORDINANCE. WHEREAS,Miami-Dade County has enacted a Human Rights Ordinance which prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation, (Miami-Dade County Code Chapter 11A); and WHEREAS, this Ordinance provides important protections to Miami Shores' residents; and WHEREAS, on Tuesday, September 10th, Miami-Dade County voters are scheduled to decide whether or not to approve a referendum repealing this Human Rights Ordinance; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of Miami Shores Village to support and endorse this Human Rights Ordinance and oppose its repeal; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND VILLAGE COUNCIL OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE,FLORIDA: Section 1. The Miami Shores Village Council hereby supports and endorses Miami-Dade County Human Rights Ordinance which prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation. Section 2. The Village Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to Miami-Dade County Mayor Alex Penelas and all members of the Miami-Dade County Commission.
