A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL,
DESIGNATING AND TEMPORARILY APPOINTING TWO VILLAGE
RESIDENTS TO SERVE IN AN INTERIM CAPACITY AS BOARD
TRUSTEE MEMBERS OF THE MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE POLICE
RETIREMENT SYSTEM, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Miami Shores Village Council executed Ordinance #617-00 on June 20, 2000
to establish the new Miami Shores Village Police Retirement System; and,
WHEREAS,the PBA coordinated and held an election on June 20,2000 selecting and appointing
two representatives of the bargaining unit to serve as trustees of the new System; and,
WHEREAS,the new System's Board will consist of five (5) members; and,
WHEREAS, the new System's plan documents require that two (2) members be appointed by
the Village Council who are legal residents of Miami Shores Village; and,
WHEREAS,the Administration requires a board quorum to take the necessary action to establish
the new System's accounting and financial-related reports; and,
WHEREAS,staff has discussed the solution to address this requirement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL,
that:
Section 1: The Village Council hereby appoints Mayor Mark S. Ulmer and Vice-Mayor
Robert Blum to serve as interim board of trustee members of the Miami Shores
Police Retirement System.
Section 2: The two (2) Village Council appointments to the Police Retirement Plan Board
of Trustees are elected officials.
Section 3: The selection of these members, along with the two police appointees, will
provide a legal quorum to take the necessary actions to establish all necessary
financial and reporting funds, make the necessary filings and transfer of assets.
Section 4: The appointees, if currently serving in the capacity of board of trustee member
for the General Employee Retirement System, will simultaneously resign from
the original board during this appointment or until such time as it is determined
which board the member will serve.
Section 5: That the effective date of this appointment will be upon execution of this
resolution.
