A RESOLUTION OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
OBJECTING TO PROPOSED ORDINANCE OF
METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, AMENDING
SECTION 33-151. 11 OF THE COUNTY CODE; IMPOSING
UNIFORM ZONING STANDARDS FOR DAY NURSERIES,
KINDERGARTENS AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE AND
PROHIBITING MUNICIPAL STANDARDS IN CONFLICT
WITH OR IN ADDITION TO UNIFORM STANDARDS.
WHEREAS, Miami Shores Village occupies a land area of
approximately 2 1/2 square miles and is comprised primarily of
single family dwellings, and essentially all of the land area
within the Village has been heretofore platted and zoned into well
defined and long established areas, and
WHEREAS, more than an adequate allowance has been made for
educational, recreational and child-care facilities within and
adjacent to the area, and
WHEREAS, there has been no demonstrable need for educational
and child-care facilities within the Village that cannot be
accommodated within Village zoning, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL:
1 . Miami Shores Village strongly protests any consideration
for adoption of that proposed form of Ordinance referred to in the
caption hereof and appearing on the Dade County Commission Agenda
as Item Number 4(e) on June 15, 1993 and urges opposition to same
by all Municipalities and the residents thereof that will be
affected by same.
2 . That appropriate distribution of copies of this objection
be made by the Village Manager to the members of the Dade County
Commission and all others that would appear to be interested
parties .
