R-0900-92 RESOLUTION NO. 900-92 RESOLUTION OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL EXPRESSING OPPOSITION TO STATE LEGISLATION REQUIRING MUNICIPALITIES TO TOTALLY FUND STATE BUREAU THAT REVIEWS MUNICIPAL PENSION FUNDS. WHEREAS, the Legislature of the state of Florida heretofore sought to shift the costs of a state bureau to the local tax base by enactment of SB 102-H, and WHEREAS, said state bureau sought to be so funded performs in the capacity of a review body of municipal pension funds, and WHEREAS, the financial burden sought to be shifted to local pension plans by said action would greatly impact municipalities who would be required to make up any shortfall and pension funds resulting from said action, and WHEREAS, the state of Florida has established the requirement of review by the state bureau in addition to the existing statutory requirements of actuarial review of each plan every three years, in addition to comprehensive statutory safeguards for actuarial soundness, and WHEREAS, it is believed by the Miami Shores Village Council that the cost of such redundant action required by the state should be borne by the state, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL THAT IT STANDS IN OPPOSITION TO THE ABOVE MENTIONED LEGISLATION (SB102-H) AND ANY SUCH LEGISLATION SIMILAR THERETO AND THE MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE MANAGER SHALL CAUSE THIS RESOLUTION TO BE FORTHWITH DISTRIBUTED TO THE MEMBERS OF THE FLORIDA LEGISLATURE AND ALL OTHER INTERESTED PARTIES.
